Ethnic Alaari Neck sash/scarf: African Nigerian wedding

An ethnic Neck sash is a long piece of clothing that is placed around the neck which is also known as a neck scarf.
Neck scarves worn mostly by grooms at African weddings are fast becoming the custom in African. Especially in Nigeria where Aso oke such as Alaari are mainly used as a neck scarf. this is the main three-stripe (Or called "Awe" in Yoruba language).

sometimes you find the brides father if he is from Ondo town in Ondo state Nigeria. This is just to show where the family hail from. Having this big sash around their neck shows that they are one of the most important people at the wedding occasion.

Here below is another groom wearing the Alaari sash around his neck as the celebrant

Wrap dress : Ankara Print outfit - headwrap

Hello everyone, hope u had a wonderful weekend. Mine was a little bit rough, cos what takes one day in developed country can take up to 4 weeks to materialised. such as issue of activating account in Banks in some part of Africa like Nigeria. i was furious with the bank staff since they promise to fix my account issue and it was not fix.
I manage to take some picture before leaving the house so that my picture taking mood will not change. here is the lovely print wrap dress i wore (Ankara wax wrap dress) .

I was feeling fly and since i would be going out for a family function and i figure this dress would be perfect for my all day activities. As usual, never leave home without my sunglass.

I have wore a headwrap to make it fit into the African ethnic way of dressing.

Here is my sister-in-law trying to take a pose with me and we were loving it.

Ondo is a town in the Ondo state of Nigeria. It's one of the Yoruba speaking towns in Nigeria. The traditional clothing is worn by Ondo people during occasion ara Alaari, Sanyan and Etu.

The picture below shows a different colour variation of alaari worn at occasions such as funerals.

Weddings

This is the sanyan asoke that is the white and tan colour also worn at burial or occasion based on the custom.

This is an Etu Aso oke worn at a burial ceremony in ondo town. Igbakun round necklace is also worn as part of the children or grandchildren  of the deceased

This is how the aso oke is made locally with various threads to give the effect of alaari colour of purple, blue and turquoise

This method below is the cleaning of the Ondo aso oke by hitting it with a wooden hammer in order to give it the iron effect

Vintage pink Velvet Tunic Dress

Happy Sunday all,  i wore a vintage Tunic velvet from the early 1970s recreated.
I thought rather than wear the usaul dull colour of  black kaftan which are popular back then.

The Tunic was made with velvet floral fabric. this design is similar to simplicity 7170
